Well our 20 year old refrigerator finally gave out and we need to get a new one. Any brands that you reccomend? Any to stay away from?

We bought a lineup of GE stuff when we purchased our house, dishwasher, fridge, microwave/convection oven. Previous owner took every appliance they could with them, we found a deal on a set that had been used for show at home and garden shows. Been 5 years and no issues whatsoever.

We bought an LG when we moved into our current house 3 years ago.  French doors with freezer on bottom.  We love it, and have not had any problems with it.

I've had several low end GE appliances (came with house) and they have all had issues over the years.

Upgraded to a Kenmore Elite fridge a couple years ago and have had zero issues. Got it at a big discount. Salesman at Sears told me that the Elite line is made by LG.

According to Consumer Reports the brands with the fewest reported issues are...Samsung, Kenmore, LG, and GE.

Well 20 years is kinda hard to beat so why not just get the same brand?

Ours went out after 20 years a month ago. It was an Amana. We got a Samsung 28 cubic foot bottom freezer refrig. for $1550 out the door from HH Gregg.

Very happy with it.

We were a little limited since we really wanted a black one for our kitchen. We ended up getting the Frigidaire with the French doors and freezer on the bottom. So far we really like it. Lets just hope it lasts as long as the last one.

BTW, there is an app called "Retail Me Not" that we use occassionaly. As we were in Lowes ready to buy I checked the App and got another 20% off. Not bad!
