Last email I recieved the course was still a go for out and back, they changed it in the mean time. Only lost a few seconds as I slammed on the brakes to make the turn. Would have been nice to know that prior to the race. I wasn't the only one confused.

Felt the cramps coming on strong about a mile in, was able to push through them till about 3.5 miles in and slowed considerably.Still managed the fastest run time in AG.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of training

Event comments:

weather related issues cancelled the swim and it sounds like they made the right decision. They decided they wouldn't be able to watch all participants in the water with 5 foot swells. This worked to my advantage as my swim is very weak.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

I went down to the beach the day before to scout out the course, and it was glorious...the sun was out, the sea was as smooth as glass, and only a hint of a breeze was blowing. “Perfect,” I thought.

As a triathlete, there is one acronym that you just can’t fathom ever having next to your name in a race report – DNF: DID NOT FINISH.
