Pre-race routine:

Had light food and water. Was kind of late to the start line.
Event warmup:

Showed up just in time and got into the pack near my expected time. Ran cold, which is what I do best.

Comments:

I love this course so much. I train on about 40% of the course so I know how to handle the hills and straight aways. My back and legs were tight from the previous day's duathlon, but I kept trucking with all the energy from the spectators. I ran at about 85%, so I didn't talk to the other racers as much as I wanted.
What would you do differently?:

Train a bit harder, it was a two part race and my back wasn't having it...
Post race
Warm down:

Went to the vendors and checked out the massage area!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Part 2 of 2 in a challenging environment, I was already tightened up from the previous day's race.

Event comments:

I love this course and having home field advantage.

I just finished the NYC marathon on Sunday and I think I'm going to venture into triathlons. I am doing an Olympic distance and I want to do a 70.3 next year too. Any advice?

I just ran the Boston Marathon under nine minute miles, can I run eight minute miles for my half Ironman training runs? Or should I go slower?

I just started doing tris this summer and I have two under my belt, both sprints. Is it reasonable to build up for a Oly in early ‘09, with a HIM in Oct of ‘09

Steady is our walk. Ignoring the pain that is radiating from my feet, I continue to place one foot in front of the other. Again I wonder, “Why am I doing this?”

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.

Having three seasons under my belt I thought I knew what I was doing. That all changed with a few new challenges and a bunch of new friends.
