Subject: Need cable TV cabling help from under house
I want to route some cabling from underneath the house to my living room.

I have hardwood floors throughout the house. I want to drill a hole from underneath the house NOT into the hardwood floors but into the inside of the wall. Then punch a tiny hole in the drywall and pull the cabling through that.

Here's my questions:

1. How do I know when I'm underneath the house, where i'm drilling so that I won't hit the hardware floors and that I will hit inside the walls? Is there some wood studs or something I can use underneath that corespond to walls above?

2. All I see is wood slabs under the house. If I drill through that, is there concrete or something hard I have to be worried about? Or is it usually just those wood slabs underneath, and then my hardwood floors?

I'm no expert, but here's what I'd do with how homes are constructed here.  I assume you have some type of baseboard or molding?  Take that off in one section.  You can purchase a super-long drill bit.  Drill where the baseboard normally is at a slight angle down and toward the wall.  Hope it pops through eventually underneath.  Go underneath and find it.  Drill UP with your normal bit from there and you "should" be behind the wall cavity.

That sounds like a great idea. Will drop by home depot later today for the long drill bit.
Thanks.

Or if you have an electrical outlet, either on the baseboard or the wall itself, you might try tracing the  wire from there.  You can shut the power off to an outlet, remove the cover from the outlet itself, and try fishing a wire down along side the outlet box and see where it comes out down below.  Once you've narrowed it down this way and also by observing the electrical wire location, you should be able to figure out where to locate your cable wire.

I think i'm going to have to try Max's way. There's all these concrete slabs underneath, and I've been playing hit and miss with them (or something else very difficult to drill through) after I bought the extra long drill bit. I already got several holes (which didn't make it too far) so I think i'm going to give up on this way for now.
