Subject: RE: Newbie in ClevelandJames when I started I weighed a few pounds more than you do. I fell in love with the sport and dropped 60# in a year. Because I needed to get the weight off I didn't follow any training plan. Instead I focused on doing what I really liked to do until I got into the habit of exercising. I did very little running and a lot of riding. Just go out there and focus on getting better each day.
I would not shy away from doing a sprint if you feel you can finish. Don't worry about how fast, just have fun and make the goal to finish.
