Comments:

Swim was good, new layout to the course because of changes to the property. PR swim for me which had me excited. Wore a suit and swam well.

Bike
  • 1h 04m 17s
  • 20.5 miles

Comments:

Bike was shortened 3 miles the morning of the race due to a traffic accident that brought down a power pole. Otherwise, great speed for me on the bike. Felt good, its great racing with closed roads and intersections.
Transition 2

Run
  • 55m 24s

Comments:

This is where it got tough. It was 95 and humid with bright sunshine on a course with little shade after the 2nd mile. Brutal was word people were using to describe the run. I saw a number of people overcome with heat issues, including a man on a stretcher being loaded into an ambulance. I did a combination of run/walk over the last half just to finish. It was by far the toughest conditions I have ever raced in.

As the fog cleared, the buoy that I first saw earlier in the morning was just the first marker in a very long line of buoys that stretched across the lake like a runway for a 747 jetliner.
