Subject: Build your own plan toolCurrently, I believe, that if you want to create your own training plan, you must enter it in day-by-day. While this does work, it's really tedious.
I've thought about this a little and here are some of my ideas for a "schedule builder".
First a template is built. This could be 1 day, two days, one week, etc. Within each day in this template a workout is defined. Also, you would specify how much (time/distance ) this workout is increased as the template is repeated.
I haven't put too much thought into it, but I'd like to build a schedule in phases specifying a pattern, then using factors to add distance/mileage based on previous volume/mileage to build an entire phase repeating the pattern. You could setup one week or multiple weeks if you want to alternate Monday's run workout between an easy run and a Fartlek. For example you could define one week as:
| Mon | Tue | Wed | Thur | Fri | Sat | Sun
Swim Increase | Drills-45 0% | | Easy-60 5% | Intervals-30 0% | | |
| Bike Increase | | Hard-45 2% | | Easy-90 8% | | | Hills-60 0%
| Run Increase | Easy-45 5% | | Easy-60 5% | | | Tempo-30 0% |
| |
Then you could specify how many times to repeat this template. In the simple form, this could be used to as a simple distance builder plan. If take to the extreme, it could be used to build a schedule similar to how it is done in the Triathlete's Training Bible.
You could also have a choice to build in recovery weeks every X weeks, and adding a taper at the end.
I realize this would be a huge amount of work, but I'm throwing it out there anyway.
