I was watching TV the other night and my daugher says, "Hey Dad, Alabama is ranked #4". I said, "No honey, they are ranked 7th". She said they moved up. I insisted she was mistaken....until I took the time to look and see that she was talking about the playoff poll.

So Bama plays LSO this weekend....that will drop one of them out of the ranking. Should be a good game.

I enjoy watching college football. The rankings the dubiously named "playoff" committee puts out, meh. It is just as bad now as it has even been. Nothing more than someone's opinion. Until an actual playoff is in place everything beyond the conference title games is fluff. Albeit very profitable fluff.

Just hoping by beloved Buckeyes can regain the form they had the last three games of last year. We shall see!

I kind of ignore the playoff polls because all of the top teams have to play their divisional championship game, so half of the top 4 have a decent shot at getting beat before the final poll.

If the playoff were expanded to 16 teams, the entire SEC could be put into the playoffs.  I'm sure there could be some suspension of the .500 rule to accommodate this.

My son and I are tired of the seeing the same old teams at the top, so we're pulling for the underdogs -- I'm picking OK State, and he's taking Iowa to win it all.

I had mixed feelings about the OSU/MSU game.  I wanted MSU to win because my Huskers beat them, but I also wanted there to be an undefeated B1G team so our conference doesn't get squeezed out of the bracket.  If Iowa goes undefeated they'll be a lock, but it's "Iowa" and they've only played two (barely) ranked teams, so they'll get smoked in the playoffs.

Depending on the other conferences a 1 loss OSU could still make it, but it would be tough due to the B1G not lighting the world on fire this year.

on a side note, my condolences for Tim Beck.  We endured his atrocious play calling for years at Nebraska.  I can't believe Urban is letting him destroy OSU's offense with such horrible calling.   We used to joke that he loves to see what works in the first half and then do everything but that the rest of the game because they'll never expect it.  lol
I know Urban said he was making most of the calls, but I would expect him to take responsibility wether he was making the calls or not.
