Pre-race routine:

Up at 5:00am, had coffee and forced down 1/2 PB sandwich. (I can't eat so early in the morning). Loaded my gear and headed west.
Event warmup:

Walked up and down the BIG hill from the paking lot to the TA. Some stetching (not as much as I would of liked to).
Swim
  • 22m 13s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 58s / 100 meters
Comments:

The water was very choppy - the worst I have been in so far. I found it hard to breath. I think I sucked in 40 waves..hehe. It did make it hard for me to get technique down because I was just trying to get through it. My stomach was pretty upset too before the race - I figured out later that I drank spoiled milk in my coffee. I thought it tasted funny!
What would you do differently?:

Note to self...smell the milk before putting it in my coffee. :) I need more open water practice and work on technique.
Transition 1
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

This was not as good as I would have liked. I was out of breath from the swim and my suit got stuck on my heels - time to invest in some bodyglide. The TA was on a good incline, I think that was not good for me either as I found it harder to balance on one leg to get my suit off. Drank some Cytomax before grabbing my bike and heading off.
What would you do differently?:

Bodyglide
Bike
  • 43m 8s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 17.30 mile/hr
Comments:

Some pretty rough road. I think there were more uphills than downhills. One great big hill right as we came out of the TA. I got stuck behind 2 guys coming out of the TA. They were having trouble getting clipped in and blocked the narrow exit.
What would you do differently?:

Actually suprised that speed was so good (at least for me :)) I'm pretty happy with it.
Transition 2
  • 01m 2s
Comments:

This was an average transition. Had a little trouble racking the bike. Drank more cytomax and headed out.
What would you do differently?:

I could always go faster. :)
Run
  • 27m 46s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

I finally caught up with 2 girls in my age group and passed them. I felt really good. Too many hills though! :)
What would you do differently?:

?
Post race
Warm down:

Walking, Streching, Cheering on my hubby and our friends for theie race.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Technique and the HILL.

Event comments:

Good race. I do however look forward to the 3 week break before the next race.
