Subject: Garmin 920xt Hi,
My name is Lawrence, earlier this year I made the goal to complete Kona Ironman 2020 in memory of my dad. I grew up in Hawaii and my family and I had volunteered several times for water stands, set up etc. I grew up playing soccer, tennis, baseball, but never any endurance sport like a triathlon. I have been running over the last 2.5 months training for a local 5 mile race and I am now beginning to commute to work (12.5 miles per day ). I have been an on and off again exerciser never staying consistent like I have these last few months (running 3 times a week and now biking 4-5 days ). I started looking into better ways to train and using heart rate zones which led to researching multi-sport watches. I am wanting to purchase the Garmin 920xt tri-bundle, but for the price am wondering if heart rate training while swimming is as beneficial as running or cycling since it is not a "live feed". Would it be better to get the basic 920xt with hr monitor or go ahead and save for the tri-bundle? I am hoping that if I purchase a multisport watch and begin training using heart rate zones I can begin to see more steady gains. I know it is not something I need but it would be a very useful tool. What are your all's suggestions or any other products that are as comparable to the 920xt? Thank you for your help!
