Sunny
Total Time = 1h 21m 53s
Overall Rank = 135/306
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 8/17
Pre-race routine:

Park in my favorite parking lot. Get bike ready and bag ready. Check tires and water bottle cage to make sure it is tight. I have eaten a PB2 protein shake, and a cup of coffee (need more coffee). Arrive at bike transition place bike and bike stuff ready and get towel out and ready to race. (I forgot to get goggles out for swim leg.
Event warmup:

Jogged a 1/4 mile and stayed warm. Was able to see several race friends who volunteered for the race. Great having support on course yelling your name.
Swim
  • 02m 36s
  • 150 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a reverse tri so it ended in pool, thre is a 100 to 150 yard dash to pool. and about 40 yards to the finish
What would you do differently?:

Have goggles out of the bag and ready for the swim. Had to dig them out. Not a huge loss of time but still.
Transition 1
  • 03m 54s
Comments:

Writing this backwards
What would you do differently?:

Get goggles Out
Bike
  • 37m 7s
  • 11 miles
  • 17.78 mile/hr
Comments:

Really like this course, felt like I was flying, passed only by the higher ups on their last laps, mostly paced people
What would you do differently?:

Nothing it was a great bike segment for me.
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

Again this was from bike to swim.
What would you do differently?:

I forgot my goggle had to run back to bag and grab them
Run
  • 34m
  • 5 kms
  • 06m 48s  min/km
What would you do differently?:

Honestly this race I am not sure I could have ran it faster. I feel like this is where I could possibly gain the most ground by next year and run it faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Went to the expo/after party. not much of a warm down. But then I went and rode 11.5 miles on a Cannondale demo ride with a couple of friends.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My weight was the biggest factor to my speed right now. I am actively losing weight weekly. And I know next year when I run it I will be even lighter.

Event comments:

I truly love this race it helps out a great organization. It has enough personality to challenge an age grouper as myself, and work on practicing racing. I will do this race every I can. The bike portion can be a little hard on a tri bike, but is totally do able.

The only thin I wished for is well nothing, or I should say no veggies dogs at the end. But I understand coming from the organization it does.

In November of 2000, I noticed that I was losing the feeling in my toes. The sensation traveled up my body and within a week, I was nearly 80% paralyzed.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had weight issues. I remember standing on the scale as a child weighing 60 pounds and feeling fat. My family dealt with stress by eating.
