Pre-race routine:

Registered and picked up Mom's packet early, watched the 10K go by the parents' house, ran home to get sunglasses, and then Dad drove us to the start.
Event warmup:

Nothing...
Run
  • 28m 5s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

I was pleased with this effort. This was my first event since coming back from my injury last fall. I have very little base, but I ran pretty consistently and felt pretty good. Start was a little chaotic - the horn went off rather suddenly surprising a lot of people.
What would you do differently?:

More miles!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around a little trying to find water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training due to injury

Event comments:

Always a fun race. They really should have water available right at the finish line so you don't have to go searching for it. They should also consider having a timing mat at the start of the 5K so that the times reflect chip time (they are gun times).

In November of 2000, I noticed that I was losing the feeling in my toes. The sensation traveled up my body and within a week, I was nearly 80% paralyzed.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had weight issues. I remember standing on the scale as a child weighing 60 pounds and feeling fat. My family dealt with stress by eating.
