Setup Events
Total Time = 3h 16m 54s
Overall Rank = 141/215
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 16/23
Pre-race routine:

LIght training for the week, and none on Friday.
Drove out on Friday and stayed in a hotel
Event warmup:

200 yards or so swimming and some stretching. Raining so didn't do much
  • 31m 41s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 07s / 100 meters

Had trouble in my last swim so kept this one very metered. Stood on the beach while and gave the rest of the wave a head start. Swam mostly on the outside and my GPS put me at 1.1 miles. Thought my lines were reasonable, maybe the swim was long. Was getting confused by sighting the marina. Could have had a better line here I think.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder down the back stretch
Transition 1
  • 02m 53s

Run up hill to T1. A little dizzy and a bit of a zig zag
Terrible time getting wet suit off couldn't find the zipper string, and then it got stuck on ankles
  • 1h 39m 53s
  • 30 miles
  • 18.02 mile/hr

tough course
What would you do differently?:

Train on hill. Its really flat around here
Transition 2
  • 02m 5s

Didn't wear quick laces. Could have saved a little
  • 1h 00m 25s
  • 10 kms
  • 06m 02s  min/km

Not the run I was hoping for, but the bike segment was harder then I expected.
My GPS had race 6.32.
What would you do differently?:

Need to train on some hills
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My training. Second Olympic and first this year. Best is yet to come!

Event comments:

Will put on list for next year. Challenging course, but a good location. Race shirt, and growler for swag.

Knowing where the fluids are, how they will fit on your bike, how much to reach for, and when to reach for it should be understood prior to ever setting foot on the course.
