Swim
Comments: Not the best swim. Had to surface and stop a few times to get my sighting correct. Got plenty of words of encouragement from my girlfriend (at the time) along the shore. Transition 1
Comments: Slow transition 1 time. Need to improve getting out of suit. Also, slow 0.25 mile run to T1. What would you do differently?: Run faster to T1, work on getting wetsuit off faster. Bike
Comments: Pushed hard on the bike. Had a fairly good TT when on the flats, lost speed when going up the hill. What would you do differently?: Train more hills, get clipless pedals. Transition 2
Comments: Had a fast T2. After racking bike, only had to take off helmet and put bib on. What would you do differently?: Perhaps consume some fluids and gel along the way Run
Comments: Didn't push hard enough on the run, but by this time hammys were tight and quads were tired. Post race
Warm down: Felt pretty good! Except I couldn't sit down due to saddle soreness and limited mobility in my hammys/calves Event comments: First race was the Chicago sprint triathlon! The organizers and volunteers were the best, and the weather held up pretty well for the entirety of the race. The race itself went fine, missed out on my goal of sub 1:40, but in hindsight didn't consider the long T1 times so overall was happy to have finished at 1:42 and still relatively fresh.
