It affects people differently. Some people really don't even get the red urine. I don't unless I am super super dehyrdated.

Are you sure it wasn't blood in your urine? That happened to me once and I freaked out because I've had kidney issues. Apparently its common and not the end of the world as long as it resolves. http://upandhumming.com/2014/02/rhabdomyolysis-and-runners-warning-...

I thought the beet juice went down nice I even won my age group that day (Ok I was the only one in my age group that race). it was beet juice I could tell by the color it was just enough off color to let me know what it was.
