7.3.17 Monday Morning!

Hey there, BT. No race for me, just a hard bike effort in store.

11:40 - easy 1,200 yard swim, with flip turn practice. This afternoon, an easy one hour bike ride. Tonight, I'm taking my son out to look at Saturn through the telescope - he is stoked.

Day before a holiday definitely makes things more pleasant out there. Easy 1 hour afternoon ride. It was HOT, though. 95, heat index of 102. Woof.

Happy Independence Day!

My wife took advantage of the long weekend to go home to see her sister's new baby.  She almost postponed the trip and I jokingly told her that if she didn't go I wouldn't be able to do the Saturday 5K, Monday 5K, and Tuesday 5K.  

There were only about 7 races to choose from this weekend.  I choose one an hour away that started at 6:30PM tonight because with family out of town i have to be home by dark to pen up animals and I have to milk 5 goats and feed the rest of the animals before I leave in the morning  which meant if I would have done any of the races tomorrow I would have had to get up at about 3:30 AM.  The 6:30 race worked much better.  At 8:00 PM walkers were still coming in and there look to be no change that they were going to do awards any time soon.  I felt bad leaving early.  It is the first time that I have been the overall winner that i couldn't stay for awards.  I am sure I missed out on some swanky prize.  There was a big carnival and firework show after the race that I missed too.  I am not a big fan of carnivals so that wasn't a big loss, but I am a huge fan of firework shows.  I should be able to work out putting animal in early to catch the in town show though.
