Subject: Calvin Coolidge John Calvin Coolidge Jr. The 30th President of the United States (1923–1929 ). A Republican lawyer from New England, born in Vermont, Coolidge worked his way up the ladder of Massachusetts state politics, eventually becoming governor of that state. His response to the Boston Police Strike of 1919 thrust him into the national spotlight and gave him a reputation as a man of decisive action. Soon after, he was elected as the 29th Vice President in 1920, and succeeded to the presidency upon the sudden death of Warren G. Harding in 1923. Elected in his own right in 1924, he gained a reputation as a small government conservative and also as a man who said very little, although having a rather dry sense of humor.
So he was POTUS in 1926. Speaking of 1926...
About a year ago I sold my 1926 DB Coupe....and have regretted it ever since. Someone advised just parking it and leave it be for a while. Good advice that I did not take.
Was cleaning out my voivemail and came across the message from the guy who bought it. On a whim I called him. I asked him if he was still enjoying the car. He said his health was failing and he has not driven it much and, coincidently, was considering selling it.
Bottom line one is I sold it to him for $7500, he had the carb and starter rebuilt and put new battery in and agreed to sell to sell back to me for $7000. It is not running. But I’m not concerned. Very excited. I spent 2 years restoring this car and put my heart and soul into it. When I sold it I nearly cried when she left...ok I will admit, I actually did get watery eyed....even if you think I’m a pus. I spend 2 years working on that car and it meant a lot to me. I got it running when I went to go get it so was able to drive it onto the trailer. She is home now. I did some work on yesterday and she runs good.
Oh...the Coolidge thing was a feeble attempt to not post off-topic. ;- ) Attachments ---------------- DD14F46D-AC0A-4D7B-9C38-9A11C85A9B00.jpeg (3249KB - 8 downloads) |
