Everyone in the US has healthcare, it's mandated by law.

So the case above, where the lady's son didn't have insurance. How does that work ?
Does he get healthcare ? If he can't afford it, who pays ? It sounds like he found a charity to help him.
Otherwise does he just go into debt ?

Sincerely curious to understand how it works because it's always presented that the poor are screwed if they get sick

Seems to me they broke the law. The law requires that everyone have insurance in the US and the President obama made healthcare affordable for everyone in the US. My healthcare plan through my company went up an additional 500 bucks a year, so I know I'm helping subsidize affordable care for those that cant even afford the affordable healthcare provided by obamacare. I'm sorry the people in the example provided broke the law and will go into debt, but affordable and legally mandated healthcare is available for all US citizens.

So if I understand properly

1) if you have no money, for example homeless, there is some form of healthcare
2) you make low income, you are not eligible for the 1st, but the price of insurance should be low enough that you can afford it, therefore you have to buy it by law.
3) the majority of people get it through their employer.

do i get it ?

now if you are #3 and lose your job, what happens ?
do you have unemployment insurance that allows #2 ?

Bingo!

Obamacare, for all the fanfare and hoopla, did nothing to fix the healthcare issues facing millions of US citizens today. People are still dying in the streets(eye roll) and families are still going broke trying to keep loved ones alive. The democrats are blocking any attempt to replace their bill that was DOA and I don't have confidence in the GOP being able to replace it with a viable alternative.

I've held a job since I was 12 years old. I've co-paid for my healthcare through an employer since I was 20 and not covered by the plan provided by my father's employer. My 'free' healthcare costs me 500 a month plus co pays. I'd really love to retire early, but affordable healthcare for a guy my age is not out there right now. I actually worked with a guy who took early retirement. Sadly, he took the DNC and the media at their word on obamacare and never bothered to look into the costs BEFORE retiring! He just assumed that free healthcare was waiting for him at retirement, he believed what his president was telling him about healthcare without looking for himself. Last time I spoke to him, he was driving a school bus to cover the cost of insuring him and his wife.

Been there, done that.

When I was laid off, I had the option to continue insurance through my former employer, paying 102% of the premiums.  This was $400-500/month as I recall and I had a $6000 deductible.

I also had the option to purchase insurance on the exchange.  It was $800/month for individual coverage with a $7500 deductible.  Not.quite.affordable IMO.

I crossed my fingers and thankfully didn't need healthcare services until I had access through a new employer.

you joke, but people die in the streets every day...

Yeah.....in Baltimore, St. Louis, Chicago, Oakland, or any number of cities where the Democrats have run them into the ground, people are killing each other and themselves at a pretty good rate.....but it has nothing to do with healthcare.

Fixed that for ya. ;-)

I think we do a pretty good job of keeping things civil here and not going personal.
