Subject: RE: 01.08.2020 Wednesday Training Thread 8-3/4 mile run again this morning. It was warm here today. The mercury was up 6-7 degrees from where it was when I ran two days ago. I did about the same run today as two days ago, but two days ago the goal was to run for one mile at about 6:30 min/mi pace then walk for 30 seconds for 6 miles. Today the goal was to run at a steady state on the same course for the whole 6 miles without any walk breaks. I wanted to see which way or running felt harder and which way of running was faster. I was using perceived effort but I think the comparison when pretty well. Run-Walk-Run Splits. Warm-up: 7:28, Main Set: 7:01, 6:44, 7:02, 7:06, 7:09, 7:25, 7:03 Run-Run-Run Splits: Warm-up: 7:31, Main Set: 6:50, 7:01, 7:00, 7:05, 6:58, 7:10, 6:58 So....I was about dead even until miles 6-7 where I slowed about 8-9 seconds with the run-run method but slowed about twice that much with the run-walk method. So round #1 the Run-Run method wins. I will keep testing this to see how things play over over time. The perceived efforts were about the same for both runs. I only got a Heart rate reading for the run-run. Comparing HR's should prove interesting as this is tested further. |
