don-don-doooonnnn! (start scary music)

Watching the spin on impeachment and am just amazed at the divide.

I think Dems shot themselves in the foot by not charging a crime. A laymen’s reading of the Constitution is pretty clear and requires a crime. I saw an analyst on CNN argue that “what Hamilton meant” bla, bla, bla. Gonna be hard for Dems to overcome this.

The Dems haven't been able to overcome ANYTHING in 3 years.  This will be no different.  Until it sinks in to them that they can't have everything they want, without compromise, they will continue to lose.....because NO is all they are going to hear.  It's good for them.....it builds character that they are obviously lacking.

This will be a hoot......it was funny enough when the Dems were driving the bus and ignoring Republican requests.....but this will be epic funny when they start melting down because the tables are turned.  LMAO

CNN and PMSNBC are both showing split screens during commercials...with “impeachment trial” on the other screen. This is especially funny now because NOTHING is going on. CNN has a “live shot” of an empty hall.

NYT article sums up the impeachment perfectly.

“The House seeks to expel Mr. Trump because he acted “for his personal political benefit rather than for a legitimate policy purpose.” Mr. Trump’s lawyers responded, “elected officials almost always consider the effect that their conduct might have on the next election.” The president’s lawyers are right. And that behavior does not amount to an abuse of power.

Politicians pursue public policy, as they see it, coupled with a concern about their own political future. Otherwise legal conduct, even when plainly politically motivated — but without moving beyond a threshold of personal political gain — does not amount to an impeachable “abuse of power.” The House’s shortsighted standard will fail to knock out Mr. Trump but, if taken seriously, threatens to put virtually every elected official in peril. The voters, and not Congress, should decide whether to reward or punish this self-serving feature of our political order.”

It's interesting to me how the defense has gone from "It didn't happen, there was no quid pro quo" to "Yeah, we did it for quid pro quo, so what?"

I think calling what he did a matter of public policy is a stretch considering there was no public benefit. It was a leverage of hundreds of millions for personal political gain by a foreign government, are you suggesting we should turn a blind eye to this behavior for all future presidents? Maybe every elected official SHOULD be put in peril if they continue to abuse their power to retain their seats. Wasn't that the whole premise of draining the swamp?

I can't read what you wrote because my eyes are blinded by the complete arse kicking the Dems are taking in the first hour of the defense case.   The Democrat party's attempt to undo the election of an American President...AND THAT'S ALL THIS IS AND ALL IT HAS BEEN SINCE DAY ONE OF PRESIDENT TRUMP'S TERM.....will lead to the destruction of that party.....and it's about time.  Drain the swamp indeed!!!

LMAO

The only question now is how many Dems will vote to acquit in an attempt to save face from this ridiculous attempt to remove a duly elected President.  What a damn joke and farce this entire undertaking has been from day 1 of the "Russian Collusion" debacle through this absolute chit show of an impeachment attempt.

The defense completely destroyed the Dems case in less than 3 hours! Contrary to the talking head prognosticators, there was no mention of Biden. They focused almost entirely on the facts and cited the prosecution’s own witnesses.

Your comment about no public benefit assumes there was no corruption with the Bidens and the Ukrainians did not interfere with the 2016 election. Dems have tried to make election interference as either/or Russia/Ukraine. It very likely was both countries interfered. As the chief laws enforcement authority in the US, it was proper for Trump to ask Ukraine to investigate.

Asking Ukraine to investigate itself? Right... sounds pointless.

As for Biden, you do realize Hunter had already left his position before Trump pressured Zelenskiy to announce an investigation? And that Burisma is a private company? Or that assuming the worst that Hunter used his name to get on the board, nepotism is not a crime? (Just ask Trumps kids)

It doesn't take a stable genius to see this for what it is. This charade that he is a stand up guy just trying to get rid of corruption has got to be a joke? The Obama supporters were the same way, they thought he was a saint and could justify any decision he made... including continuing the program to violate the 4th amendment of nearly every American citizen.

Not agreeing with impeachment, sure that can be debated. But pretending his incentive with Ukraine was not that of personal gain? Man... that's a stretch.

I don't see it as "personal gain".  I see it as a gain for the country.  Whatever needs to happen to keep the Democrat kooks from getting power is OK with me.  It's certainly better than civil war.....which is exactly what we are going to get if the Socialists in our country get their way.

I'm not a conspiracy guy.....but if you think a major uprising is not on the horizon for this country then you don't get out enough....and it won't come from the left.  The left will try to do it with votes, because they can't have a successful revolution.  Whatever the president needs to do to put that away is good with me.

Hopefully, it's all a moot point.....the Dems are wrecking themselves.  I've never seen a bigger group of unhinged people.  LOL

Oh yeah.....RIP Kobe Bryant.  A true giant among men.

RE Kobe. I’m not a BB fan and the only reason I recognized his name was because of the sexual assault allegation several years ago. I’ve noticed that with all the wall to wall coverage on Kobe, no one has mentioned this. Kobe admitted to an adulterous affair but claimed it was consensual. I’m inclined to believe him but #metoo mandates he be assumed guilty. Guess if you are an NBA superstar you get a pass. Sounds like he eventually got his priorities in order and became a family man. Kinda bothers me to hear all the reporting that “Kobe and his daughter died.....along with 7 other people”. Guess the 7 other people are not important enough to mention their names or even genders or ages. Guess that will be me when I die....no headlines, no news reports....just a small paragraph in the obits.

And now back to your regularly scheduled impeachment thread.

New book by Bolton hits Amazon pre-sale today....oh, and BTW, a leak of the book also came out yesterday.

Meh....most reporters don't care about any type of decorum or basic decency (you know, like letting people have a mourning period), hiding behind their desks and a belief that the 1st amendment means they can say/write anything they want.....and they certainly can.  Just don't expect me to give a rats arse when someone threatens to come down to your office, drag you out in the street, and beat the hell out of you.  Nothing is free......including freedom.

But I will give you this, re: KOBE.....the City of Los Angeles has officially......like REALLY officially lost their minds, as Liberals do.

They have ordered the flags lowered to half-staff for Bryant.

Like everything Liberal.....just make up American Flag protocol as you go along.  As per usual.....the idiots are in charge there.

Go ahead and lower your state flag....nobody cares.  You DO NOT lower the American flag for a basketball player (unless by Executive order)....I don't give a damn how good a man he was.
