not a great day...........strained/tore a calf muscle at mile 2 of a planned 6 mile run today. It had been bothering me for about a week but i was able to get through my runs and was doing a lot of stretching and foam rolling. This is about the 5th time in as many years a calf tear has set me back. Will take 2 weeks off running, bike more and reassess. Discouraged but not defeated.
I did a 1/4 marathon Virtual Race on Saturday. I got out before the sun was up to try to beat the heat, but it was warm and humid. I wasn't trying to PR like I was when I did my virtual 10K a month ago. I was just trying to get a semi-fast time for my brother's 4-man relay without setting back my training. My 10K time would have been more than 2 minutes slower than what I did a month ago. I was at about the end of my peak at that time and now I am way down in the valley.
