Comments: My goal was to stick with 8m miles until the turnaround and then, depending how I feel, pick up the pace coming back. Ken started out with a slightly faster pace, so we didn't stick together for long. I paced myself perfectly as I hit the turnaround in 52.20. ALthough it seemed fairly flat from mile 2 up until the turnaround, you could really feel the downhill coming back in, so I picked up the pace. I felt pretty strong so I set my sites on people ahead of me to catch. I finished the second half in 50.18. What would you do differently?: Nothing, I stuck to my plan and was able to beat my goal (1:45). I also beat my PR by 15 minutes, which was earlier this year. I have made huge progress in my running this year. Post race
Warm down: More stretching followed by a drive home and food. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. This was a training run for the upcoming Denver Marathon. Hopefully I can have another good race in a few weeks. Event comments: This is a great race. The course is set up nicely and on dirt and gravel which is much better on my joints. I will definitely do this race again - maybe the full next year. Last updated: 2006-08-23 12:00 AM

Spent the night in Boulder so we didn't have to wake up too early. I drank Accelerade and had a Clif Bar for breakfast followed by a banana on the way to the Reservoir. I stretched for about 10m but didn't do any warm-up running. Hit the porta-pottys on the way to the start line. Ken (Triathlonfun) and I made our way to the front of the line after leaving our outer layers with the wives.
Just stretching, which worked out fine.
