I wouldn’t do anything that stupid. Not me. no, that doesn't sound like you at all it died of natural causes |

Race weather is looking decent though a chance of some rain. After your 'dodgy ticker' time off, do you really need much of a taper? I'd think more 'race sharpening' is on the cards. Have a good week, all. Yes...my five week taper. LOL All short sharpy workouts went well this week. I debated training hard straight through, but I'd rather be a little under than over trained for a sprint. |

BT isn’t auto uploading workouts for me again. Anyone else? Yes...every time Garmin does anything different the BT sync goes to hell in a handbasket. |

So, race day tomorrow. As I wrote before, not my A race so it will be a training session with focus on run and transitions. It’s a new race so that’ll will count as a win for 2024 Nat (unless I DNF) Been practicing transitions yesterday and it felt great. Running went well this week too so I am hopeful. Goal S 390 m 8:19 @ 2:08 min/100 meters (same as last week) T1: 1:30 hard to tell because I don’t know how big the transition area is so hope I can grab a few seconds here B: 18k at 30kph : 36 minutes (if it’s hilly, I may lose time here) T2: 1:00 (see T1) R: 4.2k at 5:30/ km = 23:06 minutes (hoping for flat-ish course) Total 1:09:55. previous years' winning times where about one hour but 2nd and third about 1:08-1:09 so I'll have a shot at it. Although it's not my main goal, as it depends on who turns up or doesn't, it's always fun to be on the podium. Happy Friday! Good luck tomorrow!

Expert 4666 Middle River, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2023 Mentor Group - ALWAYS OPEN @Gretchen: I'm tomorrow, Nat is/was today. Predictions for tomorrow: 15-ish swim (should be wetsuit-legal so that helps), 14 would be better and well within my reach if I swim straight and don't panic ETA: Full-on taper madness going on here, bouncing off the walls and my skin hurts. I also seem to have lost my "crack pipe" (the thingy you control the CO2 cartridges with) so I had better not flat tomorrow. LOL Edited by jmhpsu93 2024-06-01 3:23 PM |

1710 , Kronobergs lan | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2023 Mentor Group - ALWAYS OPEN Good luck tomorrow Mike, hope you qualify! One point for 2024 Nat. So that’s 2-1 now. I am really pleased with my race, went totally according to plan. The total time ended up being much faster than my goal (by 4 minutes) but according to my watch, the course was shorter than advertised, only the run was the 4.2k they said. The swim was 40m shorter and the bike 1km shorter. But I nailed all my tempo goals. Icing on the cake, I won the women’s race. As we know, it’s all about who shows up or not and the fast ones who won previous years with a time around one hour didn’t turn up, and no other fast ones either so my 1h05 was enough to win. Icing on the icing, a mate from my running club won the men’s race. Race report to follow Edited by Rollergirl 2024-06-01 3:25 PM |

Member 2874 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2023 Mentor Group - ALWAYS OPEN Great job Nat!! First place women is awesome! (Unqualified—I don’t care who shows up…it is awesome because you did and they didn’t, so that counts!) Mike—go fast!!! (Since you’re probably actively racing right now!!). Or…I could say my least favorite cheer:You’re almost there!! That is ALWAYS a lie!! Favorite cheers/signs from previous races? Mine is the woman at MiTi on the run that had a sign that said “one day you won’t be able to do this, but today is not that day!” It really came at a tough moment in the race for me and it has stuck with me. And…of course…smile if you owed in the lake/on your bike/on yourself always makes me laugh. |

True, but I’d rather break my goal time and finish last than fail at reaching my goal and win because none of the better ones showed up that day. When you do both, like yesterday, it’s perfect! Umm, can’t think of one right now but a guy offered me a beer as I ran pass his house yesterday, that was fun. Race report has landed https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid... That happened to me today, too. I should have taken up the offer the way my run was going. Mediocre day for me out there - pretty good swim (actually I would say my best ever), meh bike, run went off the rails (again). I also wasn't looking to fully red line after last month's scare so there was definitely some anxiety that didn't help. RR tomorrow. 13 minutes from qualifying for nationals and there's no way in hell I left all of that out there so at least no regrets. I put in a good effort just didn't have it today.
