Comments: Easy first lap of village as my warm-up, up the hill, I kept my feet turning over but with very, very short steps, only just passing the walkers, all these walkers later passed me!!! Grabbed a swig of isotonic from my loyal fan base [Trish and Holly] near top of the hill. Concentrated on easy breathing rather than worry about passing competitors. At the water station turning point I slowed right down to drink a whole cup of water. Now the hill down, that was dramatic, almost like base jumping but running down the cliff face, this got my pace up and I managed to keep it up till the end. What would you do differently?: If going so slow next time, I'll walk up the hill and make up the time on the rest of the race. I won't slow down at the water station. I'll increase my pace much sooner. Post race
Warm down: stretching on the floating pier, perhaps should have gone for a walk to get rid of aches, next day very achy What limited your ability to perform faster: Extra fat Need some help on preparation weeks leading up to the event Event comments: An excellent information race pack came when I entered this race. Told me those simple things such as exactly where the toilets are, exactly where the showers are and exactly where to buy food. Dale is a great setting for a race. But it would be almost impossible to improve on post race activities due to lack of available space Last updated: 2006-09-09 12:00 AM
