I am new to the BT website and pretty much new to the whole sport. I did one tri six years ago in Burnet (the Tri Hard) and my husband and I just completed it this September for a second time around. I just had a couple of questions about the site 1) How did Texas manage to get its' own forum, not that I am complaining since I live in Texas, just curious 2) After spending lots of time surfing around on this site, most people don't seem to be "Beginner Triathletes", I stumbled upon this site after doing the Tri Hard in September and wanting to get more serious about doing more. I guess I just feel a little overwhelmed at the amount of skill people have on the "Beginner Triathlete" site.

At some point we were all beginners, we just never went away! This is the very best tri site ever, you will see.

Welcome!

1) All the states get their own forum, but it just happens that Texas is the best one.  The state forums are in the "drop down" menu a the bottom of the main forum page.

2)Dont be intimadated by some of the peoples tri experience or rediculous amount of exercise logged.  They are all willing to help because they were once in your position.  Besides how helpful would a group of 1000 or so beginners, who didnt know what the heck they were doing, be?

Welcome to BT and make your self at home!

Also keep in mind that without the experienced triathletes, where would the newbies get the advice they need ;-) Thanks to all of you that have paved the way for us newbies, especially thanks for being here and answering all of our questions!

Good Afternoon... I am a TOTAL newbie to all of this, but I just stumbled upon this site. So far, it's provided me with a training plan, a space to track my progress, unlimited articles with which to learn from, and tons of folks in TX and out that are willing to help with advice when they can.

How can you beat that, even if all the users of this site aren't beginners?

It isn't that I am opposed to having non beginners on the site, I just didn't know if you "graduated" to an advanced triathlete site. I really appreciate all the support and tips I can get, unless of course they are coming from my husband, I don't do very well with "tips" from him. I guess it must be my competitive nature.

I completed several sprint tris before joinging BT but the site helped a lot when I advanced up to the half ironman distance.  So for me I was a newbie to the distance not the sport. Smile  And if I decide to do a full ironman I will be a newbie to that distance and will have lots of questions.

    Welcome to the BT group.

    Welcome TexMom and TexasFruit!!!

I found BT after I'd already completed my first sprint.  It's been 2 seasons now, but I'm still definitely a beginner... or at least still a Back-of-the-Pack finisher!  All triathletes are welcome here.  And, lucky for you, most of the cool kids live in Texas.    So, welcome to BT AND to the Texas forum.

I go to Texas A&M at Galveston, so I split my time between the Island and Spring. I'm planning on the Lone Star for my first, but have to get through the Aramco Half before that.

Welcome guys!  This site is so good that once you start here, you never leave.  Regardless of your experience.  Go to slowtwitch.com if you want to be treated like an idiot.  Stay here and you will learn more about this sport than you could possibly image.  Don't be afraid to ask questions cause someone on this forum has been there and done it.

Welcome to all the new Texas folks, it's great to have you.  I agree with everyone else about being a beginner, learning and growing with BT.  It's a wonderful support system for new and seasoned folks so I plan to never leave it.  Good luck to you all.  I will be seeing you around BT and Texas!

Hello! New to BT and the tri world. Decided about 6 weeks ago that I wanted to do something totally crazy, and I thought that this should do it! I have been lurking and exploiting all of the "free" info here. I gotta tell ya, this site is overwhelming with the things that I "could" be doing to prepare for my first sprint. I am truly a noob. I live in Dallas(Oak Cliff). Look forward to meeting some others from BigD.
