This isn't my first post, but I thought I'd put myself out there so I could meet the locals. I live in north Raleigh, NC.

I've been running for a few years, but this spring when I tried to ramp up my mileage, I burned out my legs for a couple of months--I just kept getting slower and slower. I took a whole month off and substituted swimming for running. I loved the swimming: I always feel great after a swim workout, whereas I feel like resting after a run workout. Along the way, I started biking with friends, and thought, as long as I'm doing all this, I might as well do the races.

Biking will definitely be my limiter. I also like working on it the least, since it takes so long, and it's cold outside, and I absolutely hate working out on a trainer.

I'm enjoying myself, and looking forward to meeting some of you in local races.

Welcome to the group.  It's good to see another "wierdo" who likes swimming best. The great thing about being swim-dominant is that you get to see almost everybody else later in the race

hey another swimmer, cool! Riding on the bike trainer really takes a lot of mental toughness. I will have to resort to going back on it and i am having a hard time trying to convince myself so i sympathize with you! anyway welcome!

Welcome to BT. You found tri a lot like I did. My background was swimming then I started running and mountain biking. After a while I thought "well, if I trade in the mountain bike for a road bike then I can do tris". So here I am.

What races are you considering for next year? Don't forget that registration start Jan 1 for the NCTS races and the popular ones fill up fast (some close w/in hours).

Good luck and I'll 'see' you around.

I told my friends I'd do the White Lake Half with them, and I'm going to plan on the Duke Liver Half as well. If I do any sprints, they'll be in the Raleigh area, unless my friends are beating me, then I'll do every race I can. Running is still the most important thing for me, so I'll be running races frequently.

Welcome!  I live in North Raleigh as well....and we have a great group that run Umstead on the weekends.  Send a note anytime you want to join us!

The group also bikes and swims (much more than I do....but maybe I will get back into the tri world after the ultra season ends )

Welcome to BT. We've got a big group here in NC. I'm in Raleigh as well. It seems like everyone is mentioning White Lake Half for next season.
