Run
Comments: Was 22 of 23 women. But you know what, I didn't care. I had a PR for what was essentially 5 miles. (but my Garmin said it was less, but since I want to believe it was 4.9699 miles, I'm going to say it was. I was kicking butt on this hilly course. At least, for me I was kicking butt. Who would have thought that just 7 months ago I was running 14-15 minute miles? What would you do differently?: Not a flippin thing. Transition 1
Comments: No real comments. The area was muddy from the storms the night before, but that couldn't be helped. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: Was 21 of 23 women. Once again, happy not to be last. The whole time, I thought I was last, so I was shocked that I wasn't. A truck of course officials drove next to me on the last lap picking up cones and asking me what lap I was on. LOL. There were still 2 girls behind me. Bless their hearts! What would you do differently?: Nothing. I had worked hard to get ready for this and I knew I was in some tough competition. I was really racing myself. I was just happy to have been able to make it through! Transition 2
Comments: Nothing much to say about T2 What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: 19 of 23. After I made it back down the devil's hill, I saw that there were 2 girls behind me. Really behind me. So far that I thought I was the last one. So I was pretty happy that I wasn't last. I mean, I didn't mind being last, but I was glad to know that I wasn't! So after I saw them, I tried to kick it up a notch. When I ran into the area close to the finish, a man was walking his bike towards his car. He smiled at me and I commented that I didn't think the end was ever going to get here. He told me I was doing better than him, he quit after the bike. The hills and wind beat him. But they didn't beat me! What would you do differently?: nothing. I left it all out on the course. Post race
Warm down: Ran to my husband and promptly sat in his chair. My legs were hurtin'! What limited your ability to perform faster: The extra 20 lbs I carry around on a daily basis. (but I'm working on it, it was an extra 70 lbs in January) Event comments: Last year for this race. Race Director said they lose too much money because the turnout is low. I hate that. It was a really challenging race. I think if more people knew about it, they would participate. Finished 20 of 23 women. Finished 2 in my age group. (But there were only 2 of us!) But I didn't get the AG award (which was just a hat or something and maybe a gift certificate) as they were giving out my age group just as I was finishing. DOH! Oh well, it wouldn't have meant anything since there were just 2 of us and I have enough hats and the gift certificate was only for $10 bucks. The only think I would do differently is to remember my helmet. That wally world POS didn't really fit right, but I guess it did its job. Last updated: 2006-09-05 12:00 AM

Had my snickers marathon bar about 6:45 and then a power gel about 8:45. Had my diet coke. Just chatted with some friends. OH! And I went to Walmart because I forgot my helmet and had to go buy one. $14 isn't too bad I guess.
None- I'm not that good that warming up will help me!
