Pre-race routine:

At a grapefruit and a bannana...I normally eat a protein bar, but ran out, I wish I would have stuck to my normal routine as I started feeling sick about mile 18...needed solid food.
Event warmup:

My friend Scott is a massage thearapist, he brought his table and stretched me out. It was awesome...the best!
Run
  • 4h 18m 33s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 09m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

I kicked the pig...I normally hit the wall at mile 18 and considering that I did not get any long distance runs in before this event, I was worried that I would bonk before that...but oddly enough I made it to mile 21, which is a vast improvement. I stayed at a sub 4 pace until mile 21, which is also an improvement.
This biggest thing here, is that my buddy Scott, went to several different stations to cheer me on...at mile 23 he saw how much I was hurting and he ran with me the last 3 miles in Jeans and a tank top, singing me cadence. I have never had anyone along the course of a marathon let alone bring me food and run with me. He is awesome! I actually got a personal best on this run...wasn't under 4:00:00, but was under my previous 4:30:00
What would you do differently?:

Train more, eat better before! And put lube on my nipples...overall I am really happy with my performance...a little disappointed that I had to walk from time to time starting at mile 21.
Post race
Warm down:

My mother and a friend were at the finish line, so met up with them. I just collapsed on the ground as my legs were really cramping. I needed to get real food in me. Once my mom left, Scott (yes him again) did a post race stretch which was so incredible. Since my last half marathon, I have had a pain in my A$$, well actually right below it, and he was able to work that out a little.
Finally got my Pizza. I hadn't had a real pizza since I started training in June!...mmmmm it was good...well back to watching my nutrician...probably won't have pizza again till the next 1/2 or full marathon.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need to train better, don't like Amino Vital, and need to have some solid food with me.

Event comments:

The race expo was really week. There were very few vendors, which really disappointed me, I was going to buy a new running top. The nice thing was that for $10 more you could update you tshirt to a drytech shirt. I am in need of a shortsleeve drytech, so that was cool!

Way to go!  I like your idea of bringing a massage therapist for your race.

Congratulations on the PR! Having your own personal massage therapist for a race sounds great.

I'm sorry it took me so long to read this!  You did awesome!  And all these weeks you were telling me how you didn't think you were gonna get thru it.  YOU ROCKED IT!

Congrats!  And that sub-4 is right around the corner.  Come to Gasparilla and run a 3:55 with me (yes I know I've said this already but I'll keep bugging you about it until you do it!) and then you'll have your sub 4!!!

Way to go mister!

Congrats on the PR dude.  And I think more race reports should include the phrase "lube on my nipples".
