Event comments:

I have never run this race before. It is at Veterans Acres in Crystal Lake. One of the hardest high school 5K courses in the country. They added an extra 2 mile loop to the course. I didn't have high expectations of my time because I haven't trained on any hills since the spring. I was quite surprised by my finishing time. I had a girl running in front of me that kept a great steady pace. I just followed her for the whole race.

Nice race!  Did you get to run through any mud?  Illinois is about the same latitude as here, but didn't know if it has been as wet there.  Reason I ask is that a local club here had a cross country race yesterday and I heard the course was REALLY muddy.  Would have liked to have gone just to watch.  I even like to hear about people running through mud.  Sounds like fun and reminds of when I was a kid.  Guess I'm off on some kind of tangent.  LOL!

There were a couple of spots where it was wet and muddy, luckily there was grass right next to it so it was easily avoidable. In the wooded parts of the run the leaves made the run a little tricky being wet from the morning dew but I got through it okay.
