Run
Comments: Not the greatest run, although the time was decent for me. Went out with some of the frontrunners at the start, for no good reason whatsoever. Just caught up in the energy, adrenaline, what have you. Was thinking about AG medals, which is a stupid way to approach a little community run like this. Anyway, I paid for my stupidity, so there is justice in the world. Already knew what I'd done to myself at mile 2. Tried to reel it in a little, but it was too late. First lap time approx. 22:00. Dropped back off the pace as we started lap 2. Took a bit of water at 4.5 mi., which was probably too late. Acid in my guts by mile 5. Ran an easy half mile with hopes of building strong to the finish. Underwhelming results, however, as the sour stomach continued to affect me. Crossed the finish feeling pretty sure I was about to vomit. Didn't. And they say that miracles can't happen. What would you do differently?: I know better than to go out the way I did. I was just too interested in the wrong things to check the stupid impulses. I got my d@mn medal in the end (3rd in M35-39), but really it wasn't a run to be proud of. Post race
Warm down: A little bit of stretching. Gatorade and bananas. What limited your ability to perform faster: Ego. Last updated: 2006-11-08 12:00 AM

This one was pretty much in my backyard. Slept in until 7:00 and had a glass of water, then changed into my running duds.
Picked up my bib, then stretched for about ten minutes. Legs were tights and heavy from a challenging week of training. Milling around near the start, I got a little wrapped up in looking over the other runners, wondering who was fast, how fast, etc. Should have minded my own business.
