alright how often, and how do you practice your transitions. i had 5 min planned for both transitions combined, but would like to cut that down to around 2.5-3 min. any advice?
I think I practiced a couple of times my first year. These days, I just figure I'll wing it. How to keep your transition times down:
1 ) Get Yankz or some other type of shoelace you don't have to tie.
2 ) Make sure you don't have to change clothes, etc. Get an outfit you can swim/ride/run in with no issues, needing to put on a shirt etc.
3 ) Get a race belt. Easy to put on and you don't have to pin a number to a shirt that you have to try to put on wet.
4 ) Don't wear socks on the bike or running. But you need to get your feet use to running in your shoes without socks, before race day.
5 ) Some people keep their bike shoes clipped to their pedals, run barefoot to the line and then put their feet in the shoes while riding.
6 ) If you do #5, you then need to be ready to dismount with your shoes still attached to your pedals.
7 ) Have all of your stuff laid out and know where it is and be ready to grab for it quick.
Now, that's what I know... although the only ones I follow are #2, #3 and #7. And my transition times show it.
Good luck!
