NAME: TitanIV / Cameron
STORY:
I am a software engineer who has always played competitive sports (beach volleyball, travelling softball team, racquetball tournaments). I have been on BT for several years and have watched it grow and now I want to give some back. I am not a coach but have researched the sport a lot (I am an engineer after all).
FAMILY STATUS:
I have been married for 15 years and have a daughter.
CURRENT TRAINING:
I have been doing a run focus since I took off running for a little over a year. I am planning for a spring Oly and ITU long course (1.5x oly) and a HIM in the fall. I do a lot of HR training based on LT.
LAST YEAR'S RACES: I did not race last year due to the year from hell with being sick, injured or wrist surgery. I have been training most of the last 6 months to get ready for next season.
2007 RACES:
Wildman Oly Mar 18
Tri-America Long course Apr 15
MiamiMan HIM Nov.
Other races sprinkled in such as Health First Oly in Oct and some sprints at Moss Park.
WEIGHTLOSS:
I got start in tris rfom losing weight using the Body For Life program. This got me doing more cardio that I hated before and I became hooked :-) My immediate goal is to drop 10lbs this spring getting ready for the races and another 10 before the MimiMan in Nov. This would have me super lean. Not even sure I can drop that much.

I would love to join this group. I plan on running my first triathlon in June this year, and am looking to have a small support system throughout the training process. Hopefully, you still have some room! Jackie

I would like to join this group. I plan to do my first triathlon (sprint) this summer. I have been working out and running consistently for a couple of years but still need to lose about 20 pounds to hit my ideal weight of 175. It would be great to get some help getting started and to have some accountablilty with some folks.

Cheers!

Kudos...the mentoree is also a mentor...

I've been a youth soccer coach for almost 20 years and once I get a sprint or two under my belt, I imagine I'll be joining the mentor program too.  For now, you and DRM + my local tri friends are my rock!

Hope you have a great group!!

Hi Cameron,

I'd like to join your group if you still have room. I, too, am in "re-entry" mode after a year off of running but have my sights set on a half mary this spring and a sprint tri this summer.

NAME: jhanton/ Jackie

STORY: I am a 24 year old Trust Administrator in the world of Wealth Management. Being a previous H.S. athlete, I still loving outdoor activities and recreational athletics (pickup soccer, horseback riding). Fortunetly, I married a man that who was previously a personal trainer and has as much of an appreciation/love for working out as I do, so we tend to keep in decent shape. In our free time (if ever we have any), I squeeze in time to be an advisor for a community youth organization, participate in local Rotary meetings and all the other "professional" functions you get roped into in the financial business

FAMILY STATUS: Married with an awsome Great Dane, Zoe

CURRENT TRAINING: 3-4x a week at the gym, 2-3 days of cardio with weights and 1 day of kickboxing

LAST YEAR'S RACES: Muddy Buddy, Chicago (just for fun!)

2007 RACES: June 16th, Sprint, Big Fish Triathlon

WEIGHTLOSS: 5 lbs by race day

CURRENT TRAINING PLAN: I am going to adopt the 16 week 3x training plan from this website. Hopefully beginning the swimming portion this week (I know for sure the run/bike).

MISC: To run a triathlon is my 2007 New Years Resolution because I always need some type of fitness goal to keep me focused at the gym.

Welcome Jackie. Sounds like you are pretty busy and will have to do some time management with your training. Do you do early morning workouts? If not, you will probably need to start getting used to it.

I Truly dread early a.m. workouts!!! I would if I have to though, for the sake of great training. I'm hoping maybe to make room in the evenings a bit more. Our gym is open until 10pm and I don't mind being there late

Luckily today I found a swim coach in my kickboxing class and she has done triathlons before. So I'll be hitting the pool 2x a week beginning next Monday, with her help on and off, more so to get me started and in good form. Any tips on what to make sure to work on?

Below are my time goals for June 16th.... are these to lofty??? The times come from last years results (and are the 3rd place times for each event). I know for sure my run is already almost there.

Hi,
I'd love to join your group. What a great idea! Here's my bio info.

NAME: Tom
STORY:
I'm an Engineering Manager at a high tech start up company. 46 years old. Always have been active with running, tennis, basketball. Ran a couple marathons in 1995 and 1996. However, in the past couple years I've found it harder to stay motivated and consistently active. I've put on about 20 lbs and am feeling sluggish which feels AWEFUL! So it's time to re-energize and get my body and youthful spirit back.
FAMILY STATUS:
I was married for 15 years. Divorced and remarried to a wonderful woman 2-3 years ago.
Have three wonderful boys 15, 20, 20 (Identical twins). All three are very active athletes.
CURRENT TRAINING:
I've been a weekend warrior for the past couple years. Just plugged the 20 week Sprint program into my planned calendar.
LAST YEAR'S RACES: NA.
2007 RACES:
Plan to do my first Tri at the Finger Lakes Sprint Tri Sept 9th in Canandaigua, NY.
WEIGHTLOSS:
6' tall. Currently at 218 - would like to get back to 195 (where I was a couple years ago).

Hi Bryce! Welcome to the group. LEt me know if you have questions about the training and diet. Diet usually is the hardest part, but Ihave found once you get a few weeks in it gets easier and you stop craving the sugar.

Well, I hated the morning workouts too at first and now love them. A big factor is you get the workout in with minimal impact on the family and nothing can get in the way of that workout later in the day. Plus, some days you may need to get 2 workouts in.

I cannot give you specific swim tips as I am just an average swimmer :-)

Time goals depend on fitness and training. If they seem reasonable to you then go for it! I try to have a goal and a stretch goal. Goal is basially an above average performance and stretch goal for those days where you just feel great!

STORY: I am returning to training from a brief "hiatus" (medically necessary).  I'm a former educator (everything imaginable... teacher, curriculum specialist, staff development specialist... even a principal!) but now I love being home with my kids.  I do dabble in teaching spin classes and have a small educational consulting business.  As a former competitive figure skater, I also love to hit the ice whenever I can.
FAMILY STATUS: Married to my best friend & we have three kids... a daughter who is almost 9 and two boys, one 6 and the other 17 months.  We also have two goofy labrador retrievers who make for good running partners.

CURRENT TRAINING: Cycle, both indoors and out, 6X's per week, run 3X's per week and will start swimming when I'm cleared to do so (should be in another week or so!!).  I am trying to determine the best swimming plan as I want to make every stroke count.  I also TRY to get strength training in at least once if not twice a week and I practice power yoga regularly.  I am currently going crunch-for-crunch with two friends (both BT'ers) so you will see me logging quite a few because I don't want to lose in the spirit of friendly competition.

LAST YEAR'S RACES: Couldn't race last year
2007 RACES:  ING half marathon (March), Sweetwater & Acworth tris (both sprints) and possibly Chattanooga.  Am hoping to do a full mary in the fall.
WEIGHTLOSS: Still have about 7 pounds of "baby" weight (yes, yes, I realize he's a toddler now) I'd like to drop but it doesn't stress me out & it's not why I tri, just an added bonus.
CURRENT TRAINING PLAN: Have a well qualified, Iron Man friend who volunteered to be my coach... apparently he just couldn't pass up such a big challenge opportunity.   All of my training is HR based... my HRM is probably my most used piece of equipment. MISC: I'm bike shopping!!!!   Any suggestions?  I can't make up my mind.  Time to replace an old roadie.  I do also love to ride my hot pink mtb... just something about thrashin' down the mountain on a girly-girly pink bike that appeals to me .

Story : I am a tile contractor. I started training for my first sprint last fall. The plan was to complete my first tri BEFORE my 40th b-day. Due to family situations, I was forced to miss my race after completing 12 of my 13 week training program and about 1 month before the big 40. Life has finally returned to a pace that allows me to begin training agian and I am stoked!

Family : Married for 16 years with 3 daughters and 2 dogs...both female. Talk about being the lone ranger !

Current training : I am still researching a training plan,to be geared towards a race yet to be determined, but leaning towards BT's 16-20 week Olympic. I plan on a couple of sprints and an Oly for this year.

Last years races : Only one, my first and only race, a 5k in preparation for my sprint. I finished 2nd in my age group and was hooked!

2007 Races : Still searching but looking at these:
Northeast Florida Triathlon - Sprint -April
Jekyl Island TurtleCrawl - May
Hammerhead Olympic Triathlon - August

Weight Loss : Immediate goal is to drop 10 lbs before race in April - then maybe another 2-5lbs before the Oly's

STORY:

I'm a 27 year old software engineer who wants to be fit.  I grew up playing soccer and basketball.  I was very active when I was in highschool but since then things have tapered off.  I got into triathlon last year and want to keep it a part of my lifestyle.
FAMILY STATUS:

I'm married with 2 children.  My family (brothers and sister) are all active.  They have run marathons, different tris and we have one IM'er (hope to add to that number some day soon).  My wife is also starting to get into tris this year at St. Anthony with me, my brother, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
CURRENT TRAINING:

I'm currently in week 1 of the Olympic bike focused 16 week program for St. Anthony which is in late April.  I think I will throw some more swim workouts in though.  Prior to this I was training for a 10k on Thanksgiving and swimming.
LAST YEAR'S RACES:

Alcon Tri-for-Sight in Lexington, KY (Sprint)
Thanksgiving Day Race (Cincinnati) 10K - Ran it with my wife, sisters, brother-in-law
2007 RACES:

St. Anthony Oly (Signed Up), maybe a HIM
WEIGHTLOSS:

I've lost around 10 lbs since October.  Not looking to lose weight maybe just become leaner [and drop 5 lbs. Wink ].
CURRENT TRAINING PLAN:

16 week bike focused Olympic from BT
