Swim
Comments: I felt great considering I haven't really been swimming all that much in the last couple of weeks. I managed to sit on feet and hips and later found a chick to swim next to on the way in, helping me keep my line and pace. At one stage a sizeable jellyfish swam under me. I was pretty close to freaking out and said to myself if you see heaps more then you have a right. Until then just keep swimming. At this stage my swim time and T1 time have been combined for a total of 11:41. As I was running into transition (well clear of the water) my watch read 10:00 so I'm certain my swim was closer to the time I've entered. What would you do differently?: I'm happy. Transition 1
Comments: No issues. Bike
Comments: I felt pretty average on the bike. I couldn't get any water down. I just felt as though I was going to be sick. I'd say the heat was a contributing factor! Heading away from the course there was a slight head wind. Heading back it one could push it up to 38km/hr comfortably. I think this is the first time I've averaged 31km/hr. I'm sure the shorter distance helped!! What would you do differently?: Perhaps I wasn't properly hydrated? Transition 2
Comments: My fastest transition time this year! What would you do differently?: Would be good to crack the 1:30! Run
Comments: Can you say hot? Hot hot hot. Oh, did I mention hot? And slow. Hot and slow. Not such a winning combination in triathlon. Thankfully I left the feeling ill sensation on the bike. I felt alright! What would you do differently?: Really at a loss here. Run faster, obviously. But it doesn't seem to be in my genetic make up. Post race
Warm down: No chance of this happening. A cold shower? What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat & talent. And probably some mental preparedness wouldn't have gone astray. To say I wasn't pumped for this race is an understatement. I actually considered not doing it, given I've been out the last three nights til at least 1:00am. But I knew I would have been pissed off at myself and lets face it, I actually really enjoyed racing today. It seems I can mix a social life with racing too. Bring that on. I'm excited for next week now!! Last updated: 2007-02-12 12:00 AM

Being out til 1.00am didn't hurt quite as much as thought it would! Slept well, even in the heat. Given my proximity to the race I had a mini sleep in. Breakfast was a wholemeal english muffin with honey a glass of juice and later half a banana. Rode to the course.
No warm up required. I got in the water to cool down. There was temptation not to swim with a wetsuit given the conditions; flat & warm. But I'm not one to try new things on race day.
