Continental Airlines Fifth Avenue Mile - Run

Comments: My energy PLUNGED at the 1/4 mile mark, then came back up at about the 1/2 mile mark. I felt like I trotted it in pretty slow, but I actually PR'ed on a timed mile by 20 seconds, despite my pre-race workout! What would you do differently?: Avoid the 18 mile bike ride and 3.4 mile run before the race. ;-) BUT, this was an easy NYC Marathon qualifier, so I had to do it. Post race

Brutal. Started out the day with a BRick for my triathlon training -- an 18 mile bike ride followed by a 3.4 mile run. Had about an hour downtime, then went over to Fifth Ave. next to the park to do the mile run.
I was warmed up. No problem there. I choked down a banana and some Gatorade before I started the race.
