autumn - 2007-02-21 1:25 PM this afternoon i had the wonderful chore of cleaning up our backyard. with the mild weather in november, i had a head start on the winter's worth of dog doo doo...but there was still plenty back there. since the weather will be warm and wet, i wanted to get it up while it was still frozen. i realized in the process that greta really will eat ANYTHING. here are some of the things she's eaten this winter: + crayons. lots and lots of crayons of all different colors + as many carrots as crayons (either that, or she has a taste for orange crayons) + pine nuts (what the hell? who gave her pine nuts? those are expensive!!!) and last but not least: + magnetic poetry. the word? "will"

When your dog eats crayons, have him crap on a canvas. You can get big $$$ for the "Modern Art"

And if you gave him a tomato, he'd bark at it for hours.

This maked me chuckle!

When I was a kid, our bassett hound ate an entire month of my mom's NutriSystem meals. Another time, he ate a bag of raw potatoes. He also liked to pick green beans off of the vine from my dad's garden and eat them.

And if you gave him a tomato, he'd bark at it for hours.

Did the hound lose any weight with all that NutriSystem packed in?

Let's just say he was no Dan Marino.

I had a basset hound who, while we were gone to a Christmas party, opened the cabinet door in the kitchen, climbed in, opened a bag of sugar, bags of chocolate pudding mix, and rice and proceeded to shake them open on the kitchen floor and lick it all so it was nice and sticky all over the room. Then she went into the living room where she got into a dozen candy canes. She held them in her paws and licked them until we came home, red peppermint marks all over the carpet.

The next day we bought her a dog house and she became an outside dog when we were not home....

hell, i'd consider it if you came and poop scooped my yard! i hate that job, and i'm always the one who ends up doing it. yuck! i don't think bill would approve though.

hope your dog follows the eating of poop with the eating of dryer sheets, and not the other way around.

my dog could have a joint gallery showing with our 3 year old poopcaso (although she hasn't been feeling that creative urge lately....thank god).

Growing up, I had a Cocker Spaniel that would eat just about anything at eye level.  My sisters used to keep packs of Big Red, the big 17 stick ones, in their backpacks and would sometimes forget to put the bag on a chair or table.

Inevitably, we'd find aluminum foil scattered all over the place, and a dog with Cinnamon-y fresh breath.

The best was the time he ate an entire box of menthol cough drops.  The sound of him trying to "bite" his breath because it was so cold still makes me laugh.

Our old dog wasn't quite this bad. She would eat kleenex, sanitary napkins, anything in a garbage can, so my mom made wooden garbage can lids with a fancy antique style square nail for a handle and a little wedge cut out like a pumpkin lid so that you could throw things away.

When we wanted some entertainment, though, we'd feed her a grape. She would never bite through the grape skin. She'd pick it up, roll it around in her mouth, toss it, lick it, paw it for hours. We'd finally break it in half for her and she would only then finish it off.

One of ours got got into an outside shed we had and closed the door behind her just enough to get her stuck in there.  She then proceded to gnaw through the sheet rock in an attempt to get out.  She looked like Tyrone Biggums by the time we came home.

Our dog at a Fudgesicle, wrapper, stick and all. In-laws were babysitting Syd and she nabbed a low lying treat without anyone seeing her.

A few days later I found the remains in the yard and now refer to it as a 'Turdsicle'. To this day I don't know how the stick made it through her.

This wins the prize for one of the funniest threads ever! I can't stop laughing.

My mom gave one of our dogs a little round ham bone. Unfortunately, she broke it into little pieces and swallowed them. We called the vet and got the recipe for the hydrogen peroxide/water mixture to make her vomit. In the process of eliminating the bone fragments, she threw up a phone jack. Where the heck did she get a phone jack? She used to eat rocks when she was a puppy.

Our other dog was very lethargic one morning and would not eat his morning meal, very unusual. I thought he had a twisted stomach. We found out later that he had gone into the cupboard and chewed a head-sized hole in the unopened 20 pound dog food bag. He had been going in the cupboard all evening and polished off over 5 pounds of food. This same dog went into the cupboards and opened a 2 pound bag of brown sugar and ate about a cup of it. This dog eats anything on the floor or out on the lawn (with the exception of poop--thank God). He even tried to eat a toad once!

Thanks for sharing, I had a great time reading the replies.
