Where does everyone go for OWS in the Denver area?

I assume the reservoirs at Chatfield, Cherry Creek and Aurora are popular choices. Are there others? How early in the year can you usually swim?

Chatfield has specific times for swimming and you are supposed to be a COMSA member (CO masters swim assoc).  I think it's Tues and thurs nights and Saturday mornings.  I want to say it starts in May?

Boulder Rez has swimming, but only during times with a guard in the roped off area.  11-6 Memorial day to labor day, and maybe some weekends before memorial day.

I know the others have swimming as well, I just don't know when!

There's also the the Surf n Turf races at Chatfield (swim/run) and the Stroke and Stride at Boulder Rez (swim/run).....those are great practice!

Aurora Res has some buoys set up just outside the roped area just for OWS practice. Its about 100m parallel to the beach (and not far offshore so its good it you are nervous about OWS). The water there tends to stay pretty cold though.

Thanks for the info.

I have signed up for the Little Foot sprint tri in Bear Creek Lake Park on 5/13. It will be my first tri. I had to hoped to get in some OWS before then, but it looks like my options are limited. I guess the sprint tri may just have to serve as practice for the Mooseman oly I am doing 3 weeks later.
