The person in the lane with me was pretty much even with me the whole race- didn't make for the best conditions space-wise, but made for good practice for those open water swims coming up!
What would you do differently?:

Try to get in a rhythm early on and ignore the other participants.

Yeah so clearly the bike was what killed me- I really needed to treat this section like the indoor spinning bike it was and not the outdoor bike of a normal triathlon. If only I had biked a couple extra miles I would have placed for sure!
What would you do differently?:

Everything! Gah this bike section makes me soooo mad! I wouldn't have put any resistance on the bike whatsoever and I would have ignored the bouncing I was doing in my saddle. Basically, I would have done the opposite of anything my spinning instructor ever told me to do on a spinning bike.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My inability to ride at a high cadence on the f*ing spin bike.

FINALLY! It is always good to get the st race of the season out of the way and learn what can you improve. You had a great swim and run, and the bike well it was a spinning bike so don't beat yourself over it. Now keep on training and improving

Congrats!
