Pre-race routine:

Went and picked up race packets and t-shirts (husband ran the marathon). Walked back to the hotel and then jogged back to the race start.
Event warmup:

Jogged from the hotel.
Run
  • 25m 15s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 03s  min/km
Comments:

Rank is just for females, for some reason the results are totally separate. My overall finish was 25, I think.

NEW PR!!! This was by far the fastest I've ever run a race. I just figured I would run and not worry about pacing. It felt tough in the middle and I my shins were getting really tight... but I figured I could stick it out... its only a 5k, right?? I was *thrilled* with my time. :)
Post race
Warm down:

gatorade & water, got a medal. Walked back to the hotel, then returned to the Dome to see hubby cross the half-marathon mark. Jogged a bit with him, on and off during the day at different points.

Event comments:

There was a self-serve beer truck at the end!! And red beans and rice! Can't beat that!

You were freakin' fast out there.  It sounds like a fun weekend and you got even more than you bargained for with your marathon jogs.  Congratulations!

Oops, sorry, didn't realize people could comment on the race report.

Tom did really well, he nailed 4 hours- 4:00:21 to be precise.  He wanted to beat 4 hours, but cramped up in both hamstrings at different points towards the end.  More sodium next time, probably.

We had a great time!
