Overall Rank = 162/821
Age Group = Female 25-29
Age Group Rank = 6/45
Pre-race routine:

Woke up around 6am. Couldn't figure out what to wear - I'm always so bad about figuring out if I'll be too hot or not warm enough in what I have on. Grabbed an Odwalla bar to eat in the car and set off for Piedmont Park.
Event warmup:

Walked around a bit and stretched some.
Run
  • 25m 54s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

Being my 2nd 5K, I haven't really figured out how to run these things. I just went all out for the whole thing. My HR was through the roof, but I felt okay for the most part...until the end. On the last hill into the park I saw my HR hit 199, which is 5 beats from my max HR. I felt lightheaded and like I might puke. I wasn't able to sprint to the finish, but I didn't walk :)
What would you do differently?:

Maybe conserve a little more for the end. I just started back to running a month ago after 2 months off from ITBS, so I haven't been doing any speed work. Hopefully when I'm fully recovered I can do more of that.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around for about 10 minutes and stretched. Had a banana and a Nutrigrain bar.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being injured and not running as much lately.

Event comments:

Pretty good race. Almost all of the entry fee goes to benefit local schools' P.E. programs.

Good job! You ran it like everyone tells me you're supposed to, all out. Glad your IT bands didn't hold you back.

You did great!  Not having anything left at the end means that you managed your effort perfectly.  Given how little running you have been doing I was amazed at how fast you were.  I have a feeling that I really need to savor this narrow victory.  It might be the only one.

Great race! Congrats. I agree that running 5Ks can be tough because of the "all out" aspect of them. If you had nothing left to give at the end, you ran the race well. Congrats. I hope the ITBS continues to get under control and you continue to do well with your running.

It is amazing how far you have come with your ITBS.  A 5k is meant to suck all the energy out of your body...well done!

HOLY CRAP!!!  Smashed the YELLOW bike out of your previous PR!!  What an awesome race and glad to hear no side effects of the ITBS.  Great job and great inspiration!
