Pre-race routine:

Woke up late and drove over to the race site while eating a piece of bread. Got lost, but found my way. Drank a few sips of water.
Event warmup:

15 min job around trails. Stretched, did some high knees/butt kickers.

Comments:

This was a tough race not only because of the course (which was filled with EVIL rolling hills the entire way), but because I ran alone for much of it. There were less than 100 total runners, and the closest person in front of me was by 1:30, and the closest behind me was 1:30, so there was pretty much noone in sight the entire time. Made it very difficut to push harder.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. I was pretty happy with my time...I thought it was going to be a flat course and wanted under 8 min pace, so to get just about that with HILLS!
Post race
Warm down:

Meant to run, but just ended up walking around. Won a huge bag of Clif Bars! Yay!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Running alone the entire time...boo! I passed one person at about the 3 1/2 mile mark, and that's IT!

Event comments:

The race was ok, but there were very few people on the course itself. Some people got lost. It was a very lonely race. But the volunteers were very nice.

Hi Jasmine, my son probably saw you run. He went down to the lake to swim. He called on his cellphone, waking me from my first "sleep in" in a very, very long time..."Mom, why aren't you Running the Extra Mile?" He was excited, he saw friends from school running it. Too bad it was so small, it was the first year I think, so hopefully it will grow. It was for a great cause. Good for you!

Great race! Awesome time considering the hills.

You could have had a couple thousand people from my race Saturday. We wouldn't have missed them!!

Congrats

Gary
