Would it have to be of the Oly distance?  My plans for June have very recently changed, making Elkhart Lake more of a possibility, but there is no way I could do an Oly first time out.  I may be crazy, but I'm not insane.  Ya'll would be scraping me up from the road.

I just wasn't sure if that would be possible as the team if not everyone is racing in the same race.

Team event to me is just having everyone there!

We don't care about winning - just showing everyone that we try our hardest and are stubborn mules! having a boat load of fun

hey turbos! well, I'm sort of a donkey... well at least in the same great State of WI as most of you!

I have the High Cliff tri on June 24 and and since that week is our vacation (june 4th) not sure what we are up to yet it's probably not in the cards for me this year. Hopefully I am somewhere where I can get some training in during that week! YIKES!

Anyhow... looks like a nice herd of donks are going.

hmm the elkhart website says a wetsuit is recommended - anybody do it last year at the sprint distace that can comment on how cold it was ?

Last year cause of the unseasonal highs at Eaaster and the week leading up to the race, you could have done the sprint without the wetsuit. It would not have been that bad. It goes very quickly. Also, you can run out about 50 yds or so and then swim and then run the final 50 in. I swim in the lake every year and typically, the water is tolerable(60's) vor short swims, but it is up to the athlete an their choice.

What does it mean that it is a time trial swim start?  How does that work?

Time Trial vs Wave

Wave is a large group starting at once , from 25-100 athletes
Time Trial is when one or two start at a time, not an entire wave for an AG

It is a great way to start for beginners - less congestion.

Geez, that just makes this all the more tempting.  Is anyone planning on staying up in that area overnight?  It's not feasible for me to have to drive up there to register then drive home and back.

A friend of mine did the sprint with no wet suit last year.  The time trial start is kinda cool, it was two by two last year.

No need to go up before the morning of.  You can register online and sign in on race day.
