Swim
Comments: I am really horrible on the swim! I am not fast at all! There was a big group for my swim wave, we were all hitting and running over each other the first 200 meter. I felt like I went slower than normal. Not sure if the spell I had last week hindered my performance? The usual swim distance with this series is 750m, they change this one to 1000m - which I didn't realize till they posted the results. (I thought it looked longer for some reason!) What would you do differently?: Pratice technique and do more drills. Transition 1
Comments: I had to catch my breath once I got to the TA. There was a complete vertical climb for 25 yd once we got out of the water. I had to walk a little bit as my wet feet were slipping on the grass ( I definately didn't want to fall back down it!) Overall this was a good transition - I took my time, got my breath, got everything for the bike, and headed out. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: I felt good on the bike. I feel like I guaged the hills well as far as approach and gear changes for the climb. I actually passed some people! What would you do differently?: Nothing. My biking has really come a long way from last year. I am pretty satisfied with my progress. Transition 2
Comments: Racks were full of stuff, so it wasn't really easy to get the bike on the rack. It was sooo cool though!! I had watch the Athens womens triathlon last week and saw how they threw one leg over the back of the bike and jumped off and ran into the TA, so I thought as I was coming back from my bike segment- I wonder if I can do that? - I DID IT!!! It was the coolest thing ever! I didn't miss a beat! My hubby later said "I can't believe you didn't fall down!" What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Flet I was getting pretty hot as I was about to the turn around, cooled off with some water. My stomach cramped at different points of the run, which made it hard to pick up the pace. I really felt I could have done better. What would you do differently?: Practice intervals, build on my distance as well. Post race
Warm down: Walking around, Drank water, and cheered other racers in. What limited your ability to perform faster: Stomach cramp on the run & my inability to swim very well. Event comments: I am out of first now on the series points and I don't believe I be able to get it back. There are so many girls that are awesome! They have me beat by far!! I am really going to have to train hard and smart this winter for next year! I am going to try to move up to olympic distance next year. Overall HFP put on another great race! It was fun!
