The only reason I brought up Linux was to be contrary, and to show that most of this discussion isn't based on anything but personal preferences.

Ubuntu is good for people new to *nix, though, so that COULD be an option.

Until their hardware is either too new or too old. Asking a n00b to compile a wireless driver (which I had to do using Ubunto) is a bit much.

You're just no fun, you know that?  They gotta learn SOMETIME.....
