Total Time = 58m 10s
Overall Rank = /

Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

light stretching, try not to think about the swim distance
Swim
  • 24m 36s
  • 800 meters
  • 03m 05s / 100 meters
Comments:

Couldn’t seem to get my breath or get in any type of rhythm with the stroke. Not sure if the breathing issue is a left over from my cold last week or what. More importantly, I felt like I had the energy to continue for another 750m despite my breathing issue which is good because in 2 weeks I’ll have to do the full 1500m.
What would you do differently?:

Work on smoothing out my breathing
Transition 1
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

Felt good running towards T1. Not having a major hill coming out of the water sure is nice.
Run
  • 31m 43s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

The offical times are not posted yet however I was most diffentaly a BOP'er. I felt good on the run and I ran my own race. I cant help it if all those other people happen to be scary fast.
What would you do differently?:

Keep working on the run. Maybe push harder the last 1-1.5 miles
Post race
Warm down:

walked around with some light stretching, cooled off with alot of water/ drink.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

30 extra pounds that won't let go would greatly reduce my times.

That being said it could be worse. Today I keep passing a 65-year-old man on the run course each of us high-fiving the other as we pasted yelling words of encouragement to one another. He finished 20 minutes after me but in those 20 minutes, I found out his age and that yesterday he had 6 hours of chemotherapy but still managed to come out and do this little race. It makes you thank your lucky stars and helps put things in perspective. You have to admire someone that won’t let something like cancer get in his way of doing what makes him happy.

Event comments:

The people who put on this race are GREAT!. They go out of there way to help you and make sure everything is going off with out a hitch. They all do a fantastic job even with a shortage of help.

Great job! Sounds like a fun race. I may have to come up and try it sometime (after more training).

Good luck on your next one that's in 2 weeks!
