Once you all decide to do some open water training let me know I would love to come up and get some in. I also have another buddy who lives in the boro that will do it as well. Oh and he and I are both Blue Raider Alumni!!!We are both doing the tour de boro next weekend and I am doing the two county metric the next weekend if you are up for a ride!

TourDe Boro sounds fun but I don't think I'm ready yet. I am waiting for my new bike to arrive. It should be here the middle of this coming week. The biking is my strength so I have not trained too much until my new bike gets in.

I am all-in on an open water swin. I just need a few more weeks to get my form and stamina ready for the open water.

I just signed up for the GJCC.  This will be my 3rd "official" triathlon.  I did XTERRA at Lock-4 last year and locked up w/leg cramps at the beginning of the run; DNF.  Did Jailbreak in Columbia last fall and did fairly well.  Have been training my tookus off since then.  Looking forward to it!

I'd be up for an open water swim too!

I checked a few minutes ago and there were only 29 spots left for the GJCC. I have a couple of friends interested in participating. I told them they need to hurry.

I am doing the Mach Tenn to raise funds for Special Kids. My coach told me yesterday that we will swim the course at least twice. I'm not sure what days yet. I will post it when I know the days.

This will be my first tri. My 14 year old nephew will be doing the GJCC as well. For those who have been there before, what do you think about the pre-race events on Sunday? Do you feel I should go to the prerace meeting or just wait until Memorial Day to show up?

Good question.  Inquiring minds want to know!

Of course, we have to pick up our packets anyway.

I had no idea this event would have a limited number of openings.

I guess that's what procrastination gets you.

I think you can get on a waiting list. I'm sure there will be a few drop out.

Last year this event was my first tri and alot of what I heard in the meeting I had already heard but I did pick up some good information. They showed us how to set up our transation area, gave some good cyclng tips, went over the overall layout, ect. I think it would be good information for anybody. It made race morning much easier for me.

I'm excited about it. This will be my first tri. I can't wait. This should be fun from everything I have heard.

I will be following it up 12 days later with the Mach Tenn in Tullahoma.

Beginner Question - Do guys wear a top in the GJCC swim?  (I'd rather not wear one, if I have a choice.)  In XTERRA last year, most guys didn't wear a shirt for the swim.

Thanks for the quick info!  I may wear a Hammer top and Hammer tri shorts.  That is the most comfortable outfit for me so far.  I tried running in several bike shorts and I feel like I have a sofa between my legs - i.e. the padding is waaaaay too much!

It's my first tri so I am still experimenting with what to wear. I think I have decided to wear my blue tri shorts and a red top that is snug. I figure I can do all 3 disciplines in this.

I've heard great things about this event. I am really looking forward to experiencing it.

Its a sprint, which means go as hard as you can until the finish line.  I would recommend trishorts and a snug top that can be swam in ....
