Elton John - "Someone shaved my wife tonight"

Billy Joel - "Brenda Rinetti was a popular steady ..."

The Stone - "Don't want to be your Pizza burning"

Creedence - "there's a bathroom on the right"

Disclaimer - except the Joel one - none of these are mine.

I used to sing "Lucy in disguise with diamonds."  And I also remember singing "Scuse me while I kiss dis guy" and thinking, "What the heck is wrong with Jimmy?  He must be doing too much dope!"

"Louie Louie" by the Kingsmen:

Louie, Louie,
grab her way down low.
Louie, Louie,
grab her way down low.

A fine little b**ch, she waits for me;
she gets her kicks on top of me.
Each night I take her out all alone;
she ain't the kind I lay at home

Each night at ten, I lay her again;
I f**k my girl all kinds of ways.
And on that chair, I lay her there;
I felt my bo**r in her hair.

If she's got a rag on, I'll move above;
It won't be long, she'll slip it off.
I'll take her in my arms again;
tell her I'd rather lay her again.

I think I'm in trouble now...but this is basically what we were singing in the 60's, even though we knew it wasn't right.  It was pretty hilarious.

This one's going back to the 80's but try looking up Bonnie Tylers "It's a hard egg"...you won't find it because it's not a "Hard egg" it's a "Heart Ache" (Bonnie Tyler also known for the song "Holding Out for a Hero" from the Kevin Bacon hit movie "Footloose".

I've defnitely done the "bathroom on the right" one.  I heard it at an event when I was little and I was so excited to go home and tell my parents how much I liked the song about the bathroom on the right and they were like "wtf??"

For any of you in to hard rock....there's a slipknot song with the lyrics "liberate my madness" that sounds like either "liberate my sandwich" (what my brother thought it was) or "liberate bananas" (what I thought it was)

From System of a Down, lyrics are "Spirit moves through all things", but sounds like "Spirit moose droppings"

I used to think that Eric Clapton's "Layla" was saying "Tap me on my knee"

My mom thought "After Midnight" was about "Captain Midnight"

And one last one...this is actually from my friend's brother.....he was singing the alanis morisette song w/the lyrics about the "cross I bear" as the "cross-eyed bear".

Yea I've misheard a lot of lyrics!  lol

I once got  in a fight with my friend about "Edge of Seventeen".

My friend: "One-winged dove??? Are you a f**king idiot?!"

Me: "Well, why the hell would the 'one we love' sing 'Oo, oo, oo'?"

My friend: "I don't know! They're probably doin' it or something. I can't believe how dumb you can be."

Oh, and when I was a little kid, "Material Girl" was my favorite song... Only I thought it was about "Mama Cheerio Girl"... a concept I was totally down with.

Found a few more common ones online that might stir a few memories as well.  Now that I throw these out there, I do recall thinking along the same lines as many of these!

Elton John:  "Someone shaved my wife tonite.....Sugar's bare"

Rolling Stones (Beast of Burden):  "I'll never leave your pizza burning"

Pretenders (Brass In Pocket):  "Gonna use my sausage"

Rolling Stones (Paint it Black):  "I see a Renoir and I want to paint it black"

Elton John (Bennie and the Jets):  She's got electric boobs, her Mom has two"

Steve Miller Band (Jet Airliner):  "We don't chat at a lighthouse"

Credence Clearwater Revival (Fortunate Son):  "I got no fortune in Guam"

Elton John (Tiny Dancer):  "Hold me closer, Tony Danza"

Elton John (Rocket Man):  "Rocket man, burning up the trees on every lawn"

Pearl Jam (Glorified G):  "Forty five versions of a pelican"

My senior year in high school a bunch of my friends were kicked out.  We had another friend whose godfather was Elton John so we listened to a lot of his music and got to go see hime whenever he was in town for a concert.  He really thought it was funny that, since we were angry at the school,  we had changed "Burn down the mission" to "Burn down admissions."
