Run
  • 22m 49s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

Not bad - went out at 6:55 first mile, 7:17, then 8:08. Probably too fast, but man - running a 5K on fresh legs is a new experience for me, and it was fun, dammit!
What would you do differently?:

Slow down...just a itty bitty bit though...
Transition 1
  • 01m 6s
What would you do differently?:

Nada...I rocked T1!
Bike
  • 47m 30s
  • 18.64 miles
  • 23.54 mile/hr
Comments:

Great ride -- but you have to factor in the changing winds and the freakin flying protein (gnat) population! I don't know how many of those little bastards I ate out there, but I got full! point of interest...I didn't get passed ONCE on that bike course! Again...probably hit it a little too hard, cause 5k #2 sucked...
What would you do differently?:

Pass sooner, instead of waiting behind people, thinking they're going to "make a move" any second. Wasted some time doing that.
Transition 2
  • 01m 21s
Run
  • 24m 14s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Yowza...this second run hurt me a little more than I expected. Although looking at my time, I think I still did ok! It felt slow, and the hills felt WAY bigger this time around!
What would you do differently?:

Pick up the pace!
Post race
Warm down:

Eat. Drink. Talk.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hmm...my abilities! And my legs. And my lungs.

Event comments:

I had fun! This was new to me, pacing things and running pretty much at threshold pace the entire race. And even though it felt slow, the numbers say otherwise, and I think I had a damn good race out there. Ended up in the top 100 out of around 500 or so, and #14 in my AG (40+ people I think). I have to learn to not get so caught up in speed that I sacrifice the remiaing portions. I hammered that bike course, and I felt it on the next run. Had I slowed it down a bit, who knows? I doubt I would have run it too much faster, but you just never know....
Great start to the season though, and I'm psyched to keep racing this year!
