Subject: Losing respect for a friend
I hate it when it happens. A friend/co-worker of mine has just continued down a bad path for too long, all the while being proud what she was doing. I noticed today that I wasn't as upset as usual, because whatever shred of respect was once there is now totally gone.

I feel like I have lost my best friend...We had been best friends since right after highschool till recently, but I don't like his partners and He doesn't like mine....over the last couple years he has stopped initiating all contact...I e-mail him, sometimes he will answer sometimes not...if we get together, everything is like it has always been, but I am getting tired of being the one who always has to initiate...so I have stopped....I still respect him...even love him, but it just hurts too much when I see him and then don't hear from him for months.

I've lost repect for a person who was once a friend.  I cut that person out of my life. 

If that's what has to be done, sometimes you got to do it.

Sorry to hear that. When my best friends do things that are hurtful to themselves or others, I tell them to pull their head out of their butt. Because they love me, they do the same for me.

My best friend ever was contemplating getting involved with a cheater and I jumped all over him for it. I don't let him make excuses to me.  He'd do the same for me.

I guess it depends on what she did. I may not agree with some of my friends' actions, but on the whole does it make you respect them less as a person? I mean, did she pose naked for a magazine? (had to say it)

My friends have done all sorts of things I don't personally agree with, but they never forced their actions upon me...and I guess that's why they're still friends.

Was she selling drugs on the side? Was she having an affair? Was she embezzling? Was she clicking her gum or slurping her soup? What general category was it if you aren't allowed to be more specific?

I went through that, and I haven't talked to her for over a year now.  She slowly had a downward spiral, doing things to damage her reputation and possibly her young daughters' respect for her.  Her daughters may do the same when they get older, thinking it's okay because mom does it, but she can't see that.  

I did see her in the pedi dentists office when our kids had an appt at the same time and she didn't even look me in the eye.  sheesh.  what. ever.

yeah, we were close.  Knew each other for at least 10 years, I was in her wedding.
