Damn this smoke from the fires is driving me nuts. I started to go out this morning for a 2 hour ride, got about half a mile and was choking, had to turn back. 2nd time this week it's killed a workout altogether, and a third one I cut short.

I live in Woodstock, is it clean anywhere else in the metro area, preferably on the north side?

Live in Dacula, it was a little smoky this am. I rode a couple of hours. I noticed the smoke and it bothered me a little. I think the western burbs are getting the smoke because of the wind direction. I saw on the news that the wind direction was goin to change and blow the smoke out later today.

I rode on the SCT this morning but ended up cutting it short due to the smoke.  I had planned a brick but will do a treadmill run later today instead.   The SCT was much better than it is here in Roswell/Woodstock.  There were pockets of smoke but overall not terrible.  However, because I have asthma, I was concerned about aggravating it so decided against a longer ride.

Not sure how bad it is for you guys in GA but the last week and a half or so we have had winds out of the east so even here in southern AL it has been nasty. It is worse in the evening and early morning when it is cooler because it all settles to the ground with the cooler/moist air. Good excuse to run at midday?

The smoke's cleared out of here now, but it was bad this morning in Athens, too. Makes me feel really bad for all the south Georgia people who have to deal with it wind or no wind.

I just gagged through a 3 hr ride in Marietta, decided against a run afterward. Winds are supposed to shift and take this stuff out later today.

I'm actually relieved to hear some of you saying this about the smoke.
I got all geared up for a long ride on the SCT this morning and also had to cut it short only 30 min
into the ride. It wasn't that the smoke was killing me, I just wasn't firing on all cylinders.
Some friends I told didn't believe me about the smoke in the air, so I'm glad to hear I'm not alone.

I don't know which is worse - riding 40 in it, or having to smell your clothes for a couple of hours afterwards. For those of you who are willing to drive, here is a link to the NOAA satellite fire detection system. Once you zoom in, you can see where the smoke plume is heading and plot a course far away from there.

http://www.firedetect.noaa.gov/viewer.htm

The 7 day forecast for my fellow Rock N Roller's is for winds from the NE. I'm planning on it being smoky the whole time, but winds from the NE would be fantastic!!
