Comments:

Tough with the waves, but was able to stay with lead pack most of the way
What would you do differently?:

Had some problems spotting on the way in, the waves were so high it was covering my markers

Bike needed some tune up, I think the brake pads were rubbing, but still a great ride

  • 4 miles
  • 09m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Best run I have ever had, I gave it all, negative splits on each leg. I learned a lot about myself and my determination on this one
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Walked back to truck and cooled off with shower

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nutrition on run, My protein carbo load drink spilled all over the place, so I was limited to gatorade and gel, used it at 30 min intervals, but didn't have anything for last 30 min of race.

Event comments:

It was way too Hollywood. People got in the way a lot on the bike start, plus you have to ride down a road with speed bumps, so everyone jams to get to non bump side. Slowed me down, but I happy with this race big time.

Congrats!! That was one tough swim. I heard a rumor they took out the last buoy. Makes more sense if it broke free. Wish it did that before I got to it. It was pretty Hollywood. Definitely a different experience. Can you just see the race officials watching a movie of the race and laughing at people going over the speed bumps?

Crazy. Do you have anything planned for the rest of the year. Hermosa?

I was pretty much calling this a year.  I am planning on 8 races and my wedding next year, so I am going to get to the strength training and flexibility training for the next few months to be ready for a full year next year.  I have some lofty goals at Wildlfower of 2:45, it is going to take some serious work on my part.
